The Paralympic tent will feature a Sledge Hockey Shoot to Win game, a Nintendo WII with adapted games, Basketball Shoot to Win and information on programs in your community. Please come down and experience a fun and unique tent during the City of Surrey 2010 Celebration site. The public also has the unique opportunity to try sledge hockey on ice during the celebration. There will be 4 opportunities to try sledge hockey during the “Come Try It” sessions” on Feb 13, 14, 27, and 28.
Basketball Shoot to Win: Think you have a great jump shot, try hitting a three pointer from a wheelchair basketball wheelchair. Win great prizes shooting from the free throw line, hit the three pointer. Test your athleticism and win exciting prizes while experiencing this dynamic wheelchair sport. Wheelchair Basketball is a fast paced and energy filled game in the wheelchair sports community. Wheelchair basketball is now the most widely participated in of all wheelchair sports. Come out to roll around in one of our many basketball specific wheelchairs and master your dribbling, chair and shooting skills.
Adapted WII: You rely on quick, precise movements. Hurry over and try your hand at adaptive WII sports. Adaptive WII will give insight and appreciation of various adaptive sports. This is something you must try! You will leave the exhibit with a new found enthusiasm for adaptive sports.
Sledge Hockey Demos: Sledge Hockey is the paralympic version of ice hockey requiring balance, endurance and upper-body strength. Sledge Hockey is gaining in popularity, especially with Team Canada looking to defend as Gold Medal Champions right here in BC during the 2010 Paralympics. Come on out grab a sled and shoot to score that big goal or make that fabulous save in the net. You will want to master your puck handling skills before you cheer Canada onto another Gold Medal!

Come Try It! Series - Your local Ice Sports Community has come out to give you an opportunity to try ice sports activities with local coaches, students, and professionals!
